Ramon L. Rosado aka “Lefty”, aged 60, passed from this life into the next on April 6, 2024, in Hyde Park, New York, after a lifetime filled with joy and compassion. He was born on April 11, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York to his loving parents, Miriam Alvarez and the late Elias Rosado.
Lefty, as he was affectionately known, was a beacon of hard work, good humor, and tremendous heart. He lived a life marked by the deep and abiding connections he made, inspiring respect and fondness in all who were privileged to cross his path. Ramon’s steadfast faith guided his actions and provided solace and strength to those around him.
Professionally, Ramon was a talented and accomplished chef who specialized in French cuisine. His career began at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel and continued to flourish as he took on roles at prestigious institutions, including IBM and Morgan Stanley, before his retirement in 1995. Despite hanging up his professional apron, Ramon’s culinary passion endured through the meals he lovingly prepared for friends and family.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ramon will be remembered for his vibrant youthful. days as a breakdancer with “The Rockers”, where one of his proudest moments was winning a trophy for his dancing. Also, his joy in music led him to DJ with his ex-brother-in-law Nelson Santiago (deceased), as well as his leisure pursuits of handball, basketball, gaming with his PlayStation, and his daily friendly gatherings at his local convenience stores.
Ramon leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, particularly exemplified in his 31-year partnership with Adriane Roy, the love of his life, his devotion to his daughter Jasmin and stepdaughter Shanequa O’ Brien, and his unwavering commitment to his family and faith.
He is survived by his beloved mother Miriam Alvarez; cherished daughter Jasmin Rosado; siblings Elizabeth Rosado, Jose Alvarez Rosado, Zebadiah Rosado, Elias Rosado, William Rosado, Louie Rosado, Carmen Gracia, Miriam Gracia, Joe Gracia, and Erica Rivera. He is joined in eternal rest by his late brother Ramsey Rosado and sisters Gloria Rosado and Iris Gracia.
Friends and family are invited to join A Celebration of Ramon’s Life - as he requested – at Joseph J. Darrow Funeral Home, 39 S Hamilton St, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, on Monday April 15, 2024, from 10am to 11am. The final commendation/Graveside Services will begin at 11:15am at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Joseph J.
